I Don’t Practice Anymore — Why I Fully Transitioned to Entrepreneurship

I get asked this question often, in different forms: “Do you still see patients at Dermacute?” The honest answer, and one I say clearly and without hesitation, is no. I don’t practice anymore. I completely left clinical practice to follow entrepreneurship, and I fully transitioned to being an entrepreneur — not a part-time founder who still sees patients on the side, but someone who has stepped away from the exam room entirely to focus on building and leading.

This is a decision I’ve made peace with completely, and one I want to be transparent about, because I think there’s often an assumption that the founder of a clinic must also be the one practising in it. At Dermacute, that hasn’t been true for a while now — and I want to explain exactly why.

Dermacute Today Is Run by a Team of Expert Cosmetic Doctors

Dermacute Aesthetic Skin Clinic is staffed and led clinically by a dedicated team of qualified cosmetic doctors — professionals who see patients, perform procedures, and handle every clinical decision the clinic requires. My role in that process today is not clinical. It’s entrepreneurial. I focus on the vision, the brand, the growth, and the strategic direction of the business, while the team of cosmetic doctors focuses entirely on patient care.

This distinction matters to me, because it reflects a decision I made deliberately, not one that happened by accident or neglect. Dermacute doesn’t need me behind the treatment chair to function — it needs me building the systems, partnerships, and vision that let a talented clinical team do their best work.

Why I Made the Shift From Doctor to Entrepreneur

The decision to completely leave practice and fully transition to entrepreneurship wasn’t sudden. It came from recognising that trying to be both a full-time practising doctor and a full-time founder meant neither role was getting my complete attention. Patients deserve a doctor who is fully present. A growing business deserves a founder who is fully present. I couldn’t authentically offer both at the same time, so I made a clear choice.

  • I chose to step back from clinical practice entirely, rather than trying to balance both roles partially
  • I chose to hand patient care to a qualified team of cosmetic doctors who could give it complete focus
  • I chose to identify, publicly and clearly, as an entrepreneur first — not a practising doctor who also runs a business

Entrepreneurship Is Not a Side Project — It’s My Full Identity Now

I want to be direct about this: I am not a doctor who dabbles in entrepreneurship on the side. I am an entrepreneur, fully and completely, who happens to have a medical background that shaped the business I built. That background gives me insight into the clinical side of Dermacute, but it no longer defines my day-to-day role.

My time today goes into strategy, brand building, team leadership, partnerships, and the long-term direction of the business — the work of an entrepreneur, not the work of a practising physician. This is the identity I’ve fully stepped into, and it’s one I’m proud of.

What This Means for Anyone Visiting Dermacute

If you’re considering Dermacute as a patient, it’s important to know that your care is entirely in the hands of our team of experienced cosmetic doctors — professionals fully dedicated to clinical excellence, without the divided attention that would come from also running the business. I believe this actually makes for better patient care, not worse, because everyone involved is focused completely on their area of expertise.

  • Clinical decisions at Dermacute are made by our qualified team of cosmetic doctors
  • My role is strategic and entrepreneurial — vision, brand, growth, and long-term direction
  • This separation of roles allows both the clinical team and the business to get focused, complete attention

The Real Takeaway

I don’t practice anymore, and I say that plainly and without any hesitation. I completely left clinical practice to follow entrepreneurship, and I have fully transitioned into being an entrepreneur — building, leading, and growing Dermacute from the outside of the treatment room, while a trusted team of cosmetic doctors takes care of everything inside it. This is the identity I’ve chosen, deliberately and completely, and it’s the one I’ll continue building on.
